AES (Advanced Encryption Standard)

AES is a symmetric (private key) encryption that uses a shared secret key between the sender and receiver to encrypt and decrypt data. It was originally published in 1998 and adopted by the U.S. government in 2000. In 2003, the US National Security Agency (NSA) stated that AES was secure enough to protect its information at the secret and top-secret levels.
